The $2-million facility opened to the public on November 7, 1965. Crowds of more than 2,000 people forced Sea Arama to stage four trained porpoise [dolphin] shows-twice the scheduled number- becauase the 1,000-seat amphitheater could not fit all the visitors at the two scheduled performances....

 

By 1980, more than 4,275,000 paid guests had experienced Sea Arama Marineworld with an average annual attendance of 305,000 paid visitors. That year, general manager Dale Ware oversaw minor renovations of the park and added a new dimension to the show package with the addition of "The Jungle Fantasy Wild Cat Show."

Galvestonians were proud of the fact that their park had the largest number of different shows of any sea-life park in the United States.
